(A) The starting point: New Sports Center

(B) End: New Sports Center South Plaza (Full marathon), Jiangnan University Stadium (Half marathon), Lihu Central Park Musical Fountain (Mini-marathon)

  

8. Competition Methods

(A) This event will be held in accordance with the latest track and field rules of the Chinese Athletic Association and these marathon race rules.

(B) According to the Chinese Athletics Association  "Notice Regarding the Participation in National Marathons and Other Related Activities of Disabled Persons,” which allows players meeting the entry conditions of persons with disabilities to participate in this tournament.

(C) Starting method: Divided start areas. According to the registration athletes in China Marathon information platform released on December 30, 2016, players will enter their designated area. Non-competing wheelchair athletes shall gather behind the mini marathon area. As the track conditions were not met, this event does not have a competing wheelchair category. Wheelchair participants are not allowed to compete in the race.

The organizing committee will set up the race-check carpet in front of each area. The participants must be in strict accordance with the partition areas. At the start, the runners must pass through the check-point for the results to be valid.

(D) Race start: gun start while issuing the order to start

(E) Race timing:

1. This competition for marathon and half-marathon will use a timing chip, which will start when passing through the check-point (net time). The mini-marathon is untimed.

2. At the start point, end point, and at every 5 km point, runners must run through the check-point. Those who finish the race after the closing time will not receive race results.

 3. Runners must get their timing chip at the gear pick-up site, along with their race bib and other items. There is no deposit for the one-time use timing chip. There is no deposit, and it will not be collected after the race.

(F) Race close distances and times

To ensure the safety of the runners, the race will use a limited traffic rolling road closure. The check points will stop counting time based on when the road segment re-opens for normal traffic use. After the specified closing time, runners who don't finish will be stopped immediately and asked to exit the track.Runners who wish to quit can exit the race and take public transport to reach the finish point.

(G) Bag 

check-in and pick-up: Runners can check in their bag in the designated bag area at the start point and pick up their bag at the end of the race.

The committee recommends that participants not store valuables in the package (such as mobile phones, documents, cash, various keys, credit cards, iPad, etc.). The committee is not responsible for any damaged or lost items.

On race day, runners can check in their bags until 7:15. On race day, runners can pick up their bags up until 11:30 for the half marathon and until 14:30 in their designated areas. Runners who don't pick up their bag can pick up their bag from the organizing committee (If it needs to be mailed, the cost of mailing the bag will be paid by the runner.) Overdue and unclaimed bags will be considered as unwanted.    

(H) Medical aid:

1. the organizing committee has placed aid stations all along the race.

2. the committee has setup mobile assistance all along the race.

3. the organizing committee has set up along the race route volunteers to assist in medical care, and maintaining order. At the race, if a runner loses consciousness, then the first-aid volunteers will take all measures to provide first aid, including but not limited to CPR, AED defibrillation, vehicle rental or emergency evacuation for transport. Legal liability arising therefrom and the costs associated of such will be borne by the runner.    

(I) The race will be run in accordance with the IAAF and the relevant provisions of the Chinese Athletics Association Anti-Doping Regulations  

(J) Other specific requirements and arrangements, please refer to "The Official Handbook"  


9. Participation Requirements 

(A) Age:   

1. Marathon Age limit - at least of 20 years of age (born in 1997);

2. Half Marathon Age limit - at least 18 years of age (born in 1999);

3. Mini Marathon Age limit - at least 12 years of age (born in 2005);

Note: If minors under the age of 18 enroll in the competition, guardians must sign the liability waiver before receiving their gear and participating in the competition.  

 (B) the Physical Condition of Runners:

The marathon is a high-load, high-intensity, long-distance sport. It is a high-risk sport, which makes high demands on the runners' physical condition. Participants should be in good health, and running on a long-term basis.

People with the following physical conditions are advised not to participate in the competition:

1. congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;

2. hypertension, and cerebrovascular disease;

3. myocarditis and other heart disease;

4. coronary artery disease and serious arrhythmia;

5. high or low blood sugar diabetes;

6. those with colds less than two weeks before the race;

7. pregnancy;

8. other conditions not suitable for sport diseases.    

(C) Registration 

1. Maximum of 18,000 people for the full marathon, and 7,000 people for the half marathon.

If registration exceeds the marathon and half-marathon limit, a lottery selection will be used to decide who gets to participate.

The Mini Marathon is limited to 5,000 people, and taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

2. Participants can log in at the specified time tournament official website and fill in the information to pay.

3. Participants who register successfully but are not chosen via the lottery when the event is over-registered will receive a full refund within a week after the lottery results have been published.

4. This event marathon and half-marathon has 200 places for charity. Those chosen for charitable places are exempt from the lottery selection process.

5. Any participant who has won successive qualifications in any of the 2014, 2015, 2016 Wuxi marathon events will be exempt from the lottery selection process.

6. The top ten runners in all age groups of men and women of the 2016 Lihu International Half Marathon are from the lottery selection process.

7. According to the June 1, 2016 China Athletics Association released "China Domestic Marathon and Related Athletic Events Ranking Evaluation and Implementation Method", runners who have  reached "elite class" status are exempt from the lottery selection process. Specific implementation measures are as follows:

 (1) Registered marathon runners: as of December 1, 2016, "China Marathon" Web site can query the data in the results, and any certified by the CAA can reach “elite status" in an "A class event,".

(2) Half Marathon Registration Event participants: As of December 1, 2016, "China Marathon" Web site can query the data in the results, and any certified by the CAA can reach “elite status” in an "A class event".

8. Before the lottery process starts, the organizing committee will inform registered participants who meet the conditions for exemption and can receive their competition qualifications.  

9. Before the race the organizing committee will inform the participants to log in to the official website to check their bib number.

10. Things to bring to pick-up:

Qualifying runners must bring a valid ID or passport (original) to the organizing committee's designated place to pick up their gear at a designated time. Runners who cannot pick up their gear on the day of the race must make their own arrangements to get their gear. Runners who cannot pick up their gear, and want someone else to pick up their gear can do so, but the timing chip, runner’s bracelet and bib cannot be picked up by other people. They must bring their ID or passport to the pick-up point.  

(4) Registration fee

1. Applicants of Chinese nationality (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan):

Full Marathon ¥160 RMB / person;

Half marathon ¥160 RMB / person;

Mini marathon ¥80 RMB / person;

Charitable places ¥1160 RMB / person (including ¥1000 RMB for a charitable donation, ¥160 RMB for the registration fee).    

2. Applicants of foreign nationality:

Marathon $25 USD / person;

Half marathon $25 USD / person;

Mini-marathon $15 USD / person;

Charitable places $ 180 USD / person (including $155 USD for a charitable donation of and $25 USD for the registration fee).  

(E) Waiting list runners and exit rules

1. Successfully registered runners who cannot participate for personal reasons can exit. Exiting one week after February 5, 2017 (inclusive) will receive an 80% refund of the registration fee. Exiting from February 6, 2017 to March 5, 2017 (inclusive) will get a 50% refund of the registration fee. Refunds will be returned to the original method of payment within a week of quitting. Runners after March 6, 2017 cannot quit. Charitable place runners who have successfully registered and wish to exit will only be refunded the registration fee portion of their fee. 

2. When runners exit, waiting list runners will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis

3. Waiting list runners prior to the application in March 5, 2017 (inclusive) can choose to exit the waiting list. The registration fee will refunded in full to the method of payment within a week of choosing the exit. Waiting list runners who do not successfully join the race will receive their refund within a week after March 7th, 2017.

(B) Special Award for marathon athletes of Chinese nationality. Chinese nationals who meet the following requirements and obtain the top 3 places among Chinese athletes (in terms of net timing results), respectively, will receive a bonus (RMB Unit: Yuan)

(C) Chinese athletes who qualify for both Chinese-only and international awards will only receive the higher of the two awards in payment

(D) All of the above are required to pay a personal income tax of 20% of the award money. Prize winners will be awarded within 30 work days of the race (after sampling players for stimulants and PEDs have been processed).

(E) The top three male and female runners will be awarded trophies and medals.

(F) Whoever finishes the race in the closing time, with a valid race bib number and running bracelet will receive rewards and a finisher medal (marathon) or commemorative medals (half marathon).

(G) Runners who finish within the closing time can log in to the event's official website to check results after 24 hours. Top 20 finishers must wait until after the publication period to download their certificates. Certificate includes a segmented time list, starting gun time results, and net timing results.

If anything is missing from the timing chip results, the runner will be deemed to have not finished the race. The run will not be ranked nor given certificate of achievement.

(H) Within 5 working days after the official announcement of race results, runners can file objections to the race results by contacting the organizing committee and providing real and effective evidence. Top 20 finishers must wait until after the publication period to download their certificates


11. Penalties

The organizing committee will have video surveillance at the starting point, along the race route and at the finishing points. The committee has the right, depending on the seriousness of the problem, to: cancel the runner's 2017 Wuxi marathon qualifications and achievements, suspend the runner for 1-2 years or institute a lifetime ban and other penalties. Violators will be reported to the Chinese Athletic Association.

1. Falsifying the age of registrants or running in the place of others.

2. Participants carrying another person’s timing chip or running while carrying two or more than two timing chips.

3. Not following the starting order in a non-designated start area

4. Starting in violation of the rules of conduct.

5. Unwilling to stop or quit the race after closing time and then returning to the track.

6. Not finishing the course of the race along the predetermined route, taking a shortcut, or taking unauthorized transport during the race.

7. Relay-running the race

8. Not following the requirements for the race and secretly receiving finisher souvenirs.

9. Secretly forging bib numbers and race bracelets. Or by wearing previous Wuxi marathon bib numbers and bracelets. 

10. Unauthorized alteration of bib numbers and transferring bib numbers and race bracelets.

11. Uncivilized behavior, disobeying the orders of the staff, interfering with the event, or assaulting others

12. Other provisions of the act in violation of the rules.

Using false information to obtain eligibility after registration or transferring to others for runners to qualify.


12 Insurance

Insurance only covers the registrants who have fully and accurately supplied all of their information.


13 Technical officials and referees

The Chinese Athletic Association, Sports Bureau of Jiangsu Province, and the Wuxi City Athletics Association have chosen responsible officials.
